2.5 Status of access provisions
Although visitors are provided with good opportunities to view the site, access onto the bog itself is very limited and the status of access provisions could therefore be considered as unfavourable. The bog can be reached by means of a very narrow boardwalk thai is suitable only for reasonably fit people. It allows no access for people with any soil of mobility problems. The boardwalk is; accessible to permit holders only, which actively deters people from visiting and gives the impression that members of the public are not generally welcome. There is no seating or shelter on the bog, which can discourage people from setting out.
The car park is not easy to see or access from the road and it can be full at peak times, preventing potential visitors from gaining access to the reserve. The lack of information in the car park makes it difficult for visitors to plan their visit. There is very little opportunity for people to visit the reserve other than by car.
