The MMNR is fortunate in that there are relatively
few major rivers that cross the area over which
bridges
or drifts need to be established. All-weather
crossings or drifts have already been developed across the
Sand
and Mara Rivers, which have also formed the
control points for vehicles entering the MMNR from
Tanzania
or crossing between the different sections of the
Reserve. However, in order to enhance visitor and
security
patrol access to the Musiara section in the north
of the MMNR, bridges will be built over the both
the
Olare Orok and Nkiatakitat Rivers in the area
known as “double crossing” during the lifespan
of this plan. In
addition, to facilitate the use of the Reserve by
visitors wishing to access the MMNR through Musiara Gate
a
new drift willbe built on the main access road
(the C13) at the approach to this gate.
