Human security rests on economic, environmental
and spiritual security, and on the eradication of structural
violence within society. It seeks to provide:
Adequate life and health expectancy
A secure home and shelter .
Secure food and water supplies
Security of land and tenure .
Security of income and sustainable
livelihood
Social security
Human rights security
Participatory governance
Access to rewarding work
Access to law and justice .
Access to education
Equality of opportunity for sexes, races,
religions, ages
Security is thus redefined as the provision of
basic human needs-food, water, shelter, health, education, and so
on - on a sustainable and permanent basis, and also of social
justice, human opportunity and freedom from oppression.
